Head Coach Blair Reid and his team will be hoping to continue their terrific form and go all the way to a National title in 2010.
The Grandview Viking team has a core of highly successful British players who on the most part were identified and recommended to Coach Reid by our Sporting Futures Manager, Dave Binnie.
He said, "I am extremely happy and proud of all the lads from the UK who have bonded with and added to the successful make up of Coach Reid's team. I have enjoyed a long and successful relationship with Coach Reid and have watched with immense pride as his team have gradually become stronger and battle hardened for a tilt at the national title. I trully hope that his team can go onto enjoy further success at the tournament in Alabama this year."

The Viking men's soccer team defeated Mount Mercy 3-0 in the MCC Tournament Championship tonight for the MCC Tourney title and an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships.
Top-seeded Grand View competed in an intense battle for 90 minutes with the second-seeded Mustangs (15-6) who put up a tough fight every minute of the match.
The match had an awesome turnout by fans from both institutions for a great championship atmosphere. Grand View had one of its largest crowds ever for a men's soccer event that energized both the Viking stands and the GV players.
Mount Mercy was fired up from the get-go and had the first scoring opportunity with a ball that narrowly missed the mark and struck the crossbar and back out.
After a few more minutes of back and forth action, Grand View worked its way back into Mount Mercy territory. Ryan Adamson begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting (Dumfries, Scotland) crossed in a beautiful ball that Augie Faiz (Des Moines, Iowa) swiftly headed into the back of the net to put GV up 1-0 at the 11:20 mark.
The battle continued and each team took just one shot on goal apiece the remainder of the half. The score remained 1-0 until the 53:30 mark when the ball bounced around the Mustang's goal and was inadvertently kicked in by a MMU player to put GV up 2-0.
Grand View third and final goal was scored by Luis Heitor-Piffer (Amparo, Brazil) who dribbled the ball through a Mustang defender with some fancy footwork to drill one past the Mount Mercy goalie in the 63rd minute.
Following the match, assistant coach Al Driscoll had this to say:
"Everyone stepped in tonight and played the role that they were asked to do. Our defense was great and our back four and goalkeeper did a great job. "
Driscoll added "It is the strength of our team and our bench that allows us to prepare for big games such as this. We are looking forward to competing at and making it as far as we can at the national tournament."
"We are very appreciative of the fan support tonight. The Grand View crowd was great and they were key in helping to keep the energy level up."
The Vikings will make the program's sixth national tournament appearance; its last appearance was in 2008. No. 13 Grand View (18-1) will learn on Sunday its NAIA Championship first round match-up and site. Check the Grand View athletic web site on Sunday evening for more information.
