USAO Drovers and NDC Falcons progress to Quarter Finals

November 30th 2010 -

The NAIA National Tournament at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Alabama got off to a flying start yesterday for a number of our College Sport USA players.

The day started with a massive upset as unseeded Bethel University from Tennessee defeated no.1 seeds, The University of Rio Grande from Ohio.

College Sport USA's Sam Shaddick and Wayne Simpson were up next as their University of Science & Arts, Oklahoma took on the University of Great Falls, Montana, for a place in the tournament quarter finals.

In a high scoring match the USAO Drovers came out on top in overtime by 4-3 to progress to Wednesday's quarter final.

It was a of personal pleasure to our Sporting Futures Manager, David Binnie, who had cause to celebrate two crucial goals in the match from Danny Gibson and Frank Gibson. Two very fine Scottish footballers who Dave had previously identified and placed at USAO. With Sam Shaddick captaining the team it was great to see the team progress to the quarter finals to face William Jewel College.

Next up in the evening kick-off was Notre Dame University from Ohio who took on California's Vanguard University.

Again, College Sport USA had a personal interest in this match with both Elliot Kelly & Jan Skorupinski being involved in the NDC Falcons amazing unbeaten run to the Tournament.

The Falcons found a Vanguard team in no mood to roll over and give the Falcons a 20th straight victory. The match was evenly contested throughout and in the end a superb diving headed from Erik Beattie sealed the victory which would put the Falcons into the quarter finals on Wednesday.
