Gregg Munn talks exclusively to College Sport USA about his first month in North Carolina

As part of our ongoing educational supplements on the life of our student athletes in the United States, we are delighted to have input from Gregg Munn who recently joined NCAA Mars Hill University in North Carolina. Gregg will be regularly updating everyone on his progress exclusively here at College Sport USA.

I have been in the states now for almost 2 weeks and I am having the time of my life. I flew into Charlotte airport on the 12th of August and was immediately welcomed by one of our players who picked me up and took the time to let me know what I was to expect on our way to campus.

When I arrived on campus it was like something you see in the movies. The facilities that are provided and the way you are taken care of is top notch. I got myself settled in then went to meet up with the two other scottish guys, Rury and Craig, who have helped me to get settled into to life at Mars Hill College. We had a few days before we began training camp so we just hung out and I got to meet all the other players on the team.

We began training camp on the 16th of August and on that day we had to run our fitness test that was given to us to work on over the summer. In order to play you have to pass all 8 levels of the test which thankfully I did. I have to say it was the hardest fitness test I have ever done. After this we then went on to train 3 times a day for the next week so it was basically full time soccer and in this time we had a Blue vs. White game on the wednesday which went really well and showed quite clearly the high level of performance required at this level which I can honestly say is really high. You have to be on top of your game in everything you do for sure because if you are not then you will really struggle, believe me.

School began yesterday which was ok. School has to be taken seriously because it can have effects on your funding if your not doing the business in the classroom so you have always do your best there as well. We have a game against a D.1 opponent tonight at the University of North Carolina Ashville which will be a big test and which I will keep you posted on the outcome of, hopefully a good one,
