The No. 13 Viking men's soccer team has again advanced to the MCC Tournament Championship with a 3-1 win over Viterbo in the Semifinals today in Des Moines.

Top-seeded Grand View was challenged the entire contest by No. 4 seed Viterbo. It looked as though both teams would be scoreless at the half until Per Poulsen (Losning, Denmark) battled the keeper on a corner kick sent in by Noah Acosta (Vancouver, Canada). Poulsen was able to bring the ball under control, beat a defender and then slotted the ball back to an oncoming Ariko Kaziboni (Omaha, Neb.) who side footed the ball from 15 yards into the back of the net.

Viterbo was persistent after the break and it paid off as Andy Sadowskyj tied the game with a goal in the 56th minute.

A hard foul in the box gave GV's Jonny MacAdam (Glasgow, Scotland) a PK in which MacAdam converted for the game winner in the 68th minute.

A final insurance goal was scored by GV in the 88th minute. MacAdam collected the ball just over midfield and found Luis Heitor-Piffer (Amparo, Brazil) on the left. Heitor-Piffer, on the dribble, beat his defender into the 18. He then dropped a pin-point pass to Adamson who crashed into the 18 yd box from the right side and side footed the ball into the left corner, beating the keeper from 13 yds out and sealing the victory for GV.

Grand View outshot Viterbo 21-9 and held a 7-5 shots on goal advantage.

The Vikings improve to 17-1 and will host No. 2 seed Mount Mercy (16-5) for the MCC Tournament Championship. The winner receives an automatic bid to the NAIA Championships. Game time is TBD.
