College Sport USA Student Athletes 1 month into new careers in the USA

With countless American programs on TV and with so many US style retail and food outlets common place in our towns & cities, it can often be said that we live in a tandem society with the USA.

In reality this is far from being the case. Life can often be very different for the boys who leave the UK to take up places at American Universities. For most the cultural differences are massive.

Therefore it is very interesting for our staff here at College Sport USA to monitor the progress our student athletes make during their first few weeks in the USA.

Student Athletes are normally expected to arrive on campus a few weeks before the main student body and this allows them to settle into their surroundings before the mass influx of students. This invaluable time is usually spent getting to know their team mates. It is also a great opportunity to get used to the routine of college life and of course the campus environment and rules.

Now that the 1st month is in, our student athletes are now well and truly into a routine which will get busier and more involved with every passing day.

Classes are now beginning and of course the main soccer season is almost underway.

So far, the feedback from our student athletes has been great. They are all settling in very well and are proving popular among their new team-mates and coaches.

We always feel that it is vital in our identification and selection process to find young men and women who are not only talented student athletes, but also of great character.

Most of all, we want our students to go out to the States and have a great experience. If they are settled and happy in their surroundings then it is likely that they will go onto make the impact that we feel they are capable of.

Through the various social networking mediums that are available today College Sport USA can provide support, advice and of course congratulatory comments for our student athletes on a daily basis.

As in the picture above of Edinburgh native,Sam Nicol at King College in Bristol, Tennessee, we like nothing better than to see images of the students having the time of their lives in their new homes.
